Gentec HeaTree
Gentec HeaTree is a Vertical Axis Wind
Turbine (VAWT) that will provide Rural households in Scotland
with 10.5MWh of electrical and thermal power annually.
The key positive features are:
* 5kW of electricity, from storage, up
to 24 hours after the wind has stopped blowing
* 60,000Btu.s of green heat per hour for
10 hours after the wind has stopped blowing.
The key negative feature is that the wind
can stop blowing for over a week when an anti-cyclone is sitting
over the UK. To counter this 'intermittency' of supply other renewable
sources such as micro-hydro, waves and solar can be added to the
energy mix.
