Momentum Impact Recording
Device
This device contains no electronics
but can record vehicle impacts in 3D. It has a very low unit cost
and can be retro-fitted to cars, boats and planes. It is passive
until the moment of impact unlike expensive electronic vehicle
black boxes that record up to 20 seconds before the accident.
The device records ALL impacts in 3D until the vehicle comes to
rest making it a valuable tool for traffic accident investigations
because it records the impacts and directions. The present method
of 'calculating' pre-impact speeds using Newton's Laws based on
witnesses' and drivers' estimates of speed is nothing short of
educated guesswork and leads to miscarriages of justice because
drivers lie!
